De Vos Trading Company (DeVosVelgen.com) respects your privacy. In this statement, we explain what personal data we process when you visit our website, ask a question or place an order, why we do so and what rights you have. We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What data do we process and for what purposes?
When you place an order
Name, address, email address, telephone number, company name (if applicable), VAT number and any alternative delivery address, the set ordered, your comments and payment details (payment method and status). We need this data to fulfil the sales contract: to assess the order, issue the invoice, process the payment and deliver or prepare the set for collection. We are also legally obliged to retain invoices.
If you enter your vehicle registration number
We use your vehicle registration number to look up your car’s model and year of manufacture via the RDW (open data), so that we can check whether a set is compatible. We store the registration number when you place an order and, on your own device, in a cookie for 30 days so that you do not have to enter it again.
If you enter a VAT number
We check VAT numbers against VIES, the European Commission’s VAT register. This allows us to determine whether VAT can be reverse-charged.
If you ask us a question
Via the ‘More information’ form, by email, telephone or WhatsApp: your name, email address, telephone number and your message, so that we can answer your question.
When you visit the website
Our server records technical data (such as your IP address and the pages you visit) to keep the website secure and functioning properly. Only if you give your consent in the cookie notice do we use Google Analytics and Google Ads to measure how the site is used and to improve our adverts.
Legal bases
- Performance of the contract: orders, invoices, delivery and customer contact regarding an order.
- Legal obligation: retaining invoices and records (statutory retention obligation).
- Legitimate interest: responding to enquiries, keeping the website secure and preventing misuse.
- Consent: Google’s analytics and advertising cookies. You can withdraw your consent at any time via ‘Cookie settings’ at the bottom of the website.
Who do we share data with?
We never sell your data. We only share it with parties we need to provide our services:
- Mollie (payments: iDEAL | Wero, Bancontact, credit card, Apple Pay, PayPal, Klarna, Pay by Bank, bank transfer);
- Klarna (only if you pay with Klarna: name, address, email address and order, to assess and process the payment);
- TransIP (website hosting and email delivery, servers in the Netherlands);
- Google (our company’s email; and, only with your consent, Google Analytics and Google Ads);
- courier companies (name, address and telephone number for delivery);
- RDW and VIES (only registration number or VAT number, for the checks mentioned above);
- our accountant and the tax authorities, to the extent required by law.
We enter into agreements with data processors regarding the security and confidentiality of your data. Some parties (such as Google) may process data outside the European Union; this is then done on the basis of appropriate safeguards as prescribed by the GDPR.
How long do we retain data?
- Orders, invoices and the associated customer data: 7 years (statutory retention period for tax purposes).
- Enquiries via the form or email: up to 2 years after the last contact.
- Your IP address in the cookie on your device: 30 days.
- Google Analytics data: in accordance with the retention period we set within the system (up to 14 months).
Cookies
We use essential cookies, for example to remember your choice in the cookie notice and your vehicle registration number, and to log in to our admin panel. No consent is required for this. We only set Google’s analytical and advertising cookies if you click ‘Accept’ in the cookie notification. If you select ‘Essential only’, Google will not track any data.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict its processing, object to its processing and have your data transferred. You can send a request to info@handelshuisdevos.nl; we will respond within one month. We cannot delete data that we are legally required to retain (such as invoices) before this time.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, please let us know. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Security
We take appropriate measures to protect your data: the website uses a secure connection (https), payments are processed via Mollie’s secure environment, and only authorised staff have access to the administration system.
Changes
We may amend this privacy statement, for example if our website or the law changes. The current version is always available on this page.
